A friend of a friend

So I'm currently in the basement of the Langson Library with my organic chemistry book open sipping on a tall Vanilla Rooibos Tea Latte from Starbucks [My first taste of it and I like it]. Midterms are approaching, and this library is slowly getting more and more packed as each day passes.

So anyways,
My friend, Triathlon meets up with me on the 5th floor of the Science Library earlier today. We're both half studying for our biochemistry quiz.

and now here we are to the reason why I'm blogging right now.

Triathlon squeals because she just remembered something and she begins to whisper me a story about her roommate [hence the friend of a friend thing].

Triathlon's friend, Tealeaves, was in the Science Library the other day studying for biochemistry and then all of a sudden a boy that she has never talked to her or ever seen before speaks to her.

Boy: I hate you!
Tealeaves: o_O? I'm sorry?
Boy: I hate you because I can picture us being each other's boyfriend and girlfriend but we'd fight a lot but we'd have GREAT make-up sex!
*awkward pause*
Tealeaves: Ugh, I'm sorry I have to get back to studying. [shuffles around with papers and keeps eyes on the book]

Well that was weird and WAY RANDOM! Definitely one of my favorite stories so far this year :P
Hopefully that was entertaining to you as well and now go back to your work!
And now I shall get back to mine and finish up this chapter on Alkyl Halides and Elimination Reactions.

hooray for three day weekends

hooray for 3 day weekends.
they shall be my savior this quarter.
i plan to use this weekend to CATCH UP!

So I feel compelled to post a blog as well now that I have just encountered the beautiful blogs of my friends, Ruth and Rebecca.
1. I have to say I'm not exactly sure what a 'stuffie' is and
2.the title: Naps and Complaints for a blog is a beautiful title, it cracked me up a little, but that's what you get when you are friends with a joybringer :]
3. I now feel guilty about not exercising due to the goals of a fellow RL
4. I did not find the really long blog boring at all. I guess I'm a stalker :P. I like being able to know more about your day without having to talk to you. Just kidding! Please keep blogging though, it's so hard these days to have wonderful catch-up conversations with friends that are all over the place and I do have genuine interest on what's going on with these awesome friends of mine :]
5. Maybe Christian will also feel compelled to write in his blogger :P

Alright, so here's the recap of the past few days since Wednesday morning:

Wednesday:
It turned out be unexpected in a wonderful way. I felt lively and talkative and actually had more than a single conversation with a bunch of people today.
I like people and it makes me happy just to talk.

Here's a couple snippets:
But here's a bit of background first. I have chem labs these days and we basically work in a group of 4 including myself. Chem lab is officially allotted for four hours so yeah, might as well get to know the people you're working with since you're there forever anyways :P
R: So you're Taiwanese, right?
Chem Lab Partner #2: Yes. So, what are you?
R: I don't know, what AM I ?
Chem Lab Partner #2: I dunno, South American?
R: what the heck?! No [I guess he was just picking a random ethnicity, I've definitely never received South American as a possibility :P turns out he just moved to Carlsbad and went to high school in Valencia.]

Beginning of class
Chem Lab Partner #2: Hey, I think you know my friend Betsy Chai [I altered her name]
R: Whoa, I do know her. Did she go to the same high school as you? I just met her this weekend because in her group is my roommate's best friend and they visited from UCSD for the weekend. Wait how do you know I know her? o.O
Chem Lab Partner #2: Yes she went to my high school. I just went randomly on to her facebook and saw that she recently became friends with you. I saw the name, and was like 'oh wait I think that's one of my lab partners!'

….which leads to LATER on in the lab
R: So wait, you SAW my name on your friend's facebook and you DIDN'T ADD ME?!@!
Chem Lab Partner #2: whooops
R: X_-

Thursday:
I woke up, worked a little on physics.
Then suddenly my doorbell rang! Why it was my friend who also went to my high school who lived in the dorm next to me last year and ended up living in the same building as me this year! For anonymity, I shall dub her KETCHUP because that was why she rang my door. She was asking if I had ketchup and luckily I did have some in the sachet form. [I'm the kind of person who does not throw any leftover anything away after eating out. I save the napkins that we took too much of and didn't use and I take the surplus condiments as well. And see! Today definitely proved that it's quite handy.]
Then after that I caught up with my roommate K-POP. It had been a while since I last saw her and said more than a simple hello. She's actually in SD now visiting the friends that visited her last weekend :P
[]physics hw
[]larc adjunct
[]science library to look over more physics
[]physics discussion where we took our quiz.
[]larc for chem. Larc is the campus created tutoring program.
[]biomedical engineering lecture
[]sushi for dinner with some of my small group from Liwanag, the Christian group that I am in from school. We went to an all you can eat one, it was quite pricy but I think I ate enough to make up for it. I ate 8 california rolls, 10-12 shrimp tempura rolls, 1 plate of teriyaki chicken, a small plate full of gyoza, and some shrimp tempura. Boy was I stuffed. And now I think I'm out for the rest of the hangouts with any friends this month, cause I spent too much and need to save money. But yes it was nice and relaxing for the most part.

And here we are now onto Friday:
1. I suddenly woke up and it was 8am. CRAP! [I have 8am chem lec] alright well it's too late for that, I eat breakfast get ready for my 9am class.
2. This blog is taking forever, I'm sorry :P
3. BIOCHEM LECTURE
4. SCIENCE LIBRARY
5. BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING DISCUSSION
6. GATEWAY STUDY CENTER
7. PHYSICS LECTURE: it's really hard to pay attention in this class. The professor is not that great a lecturer and he's hard to understand.
8. SCIENCE LIBRARY FOR 2 HOURS: I casually worked on my BME homework. This was also during the time I received a wonderful IM from JOYBRINGER and STUFFIE [she's stuffie for right now b/c I still don't know what that is. Wait, does she mean stuffed animals!? Oh goodness :P]
9. RETURNED NOTES TO PHARM SCI. RUN INTO IRELAND. She met her boyfriend online I think 1.5 to 2 years ago and he's from Ireland! o.O And somehow they've been able to work out this super long distance! For this winter break she went over there for the first time in Europe as well. And while they were there, the two made a trip to Paris for Christmas! That is so romantic and her I am jealous again :P. BOUGHT A SUB FROM QUIZNO'S. RAN INTO A COUPLE LIWANAG MEMBERS OF MY YEAR. THAN RAN INTO MORE LIWANAG PEOPLE! RETURNED HOME ATE DINNER AND NAPPED TILL 11PM. I think I like running into friends and chatting, what else?!
10. And now my goals are to stay up the rest of the night and work on chem. Woo!

Have a wonderful three day weekend!

p.s. feel free to notify me if there are ways to improve upon this blog

hi rebecca and ruth

have you found my blog yet? :P

wednesday

Where is the fun in my life?
Why don't I laugh more during the day?
Why can't my classes come more easily to me?

One. I think I am highly undeserving of fun. Yes, people should have fun once in a while but I myself am definitely don't even deserve that fun.

Two. Why? Because I don't work hard enough. I have assignments for lab that I need/should finish before 1:30pm today. And instead of staying up the night and working on them and finishing it I went to sleep instead. So what am I going to do today. I am sacrificing my 3 lectures today in hopes that it is enough time to fully complete my post-lab and pre-lab.

Three. I need to sleep less. I value sleep too much. Yesterday afternoon I met my bio adjunct tutor/professor? And she asked us how much should we be sleeping each night. One of us said 7 hours. Then she said nope, FIVE hours only and that if you sleep over 5 hours then your brain becomes blunt and dull. This evening I actually did sleep around 5 hours. So yes, that is my new goal, to only sleep for 5 hours each night.

Four. The only way my classes are going to come more easily to me is if I read and spend some time reviewing and working on those practice problems. It is my only way, I know it does work, I just sigh at the tediousness of it.

Five. I don't laugh too much during the day, because I am not really around people during opportunities where it's okay to suddenly burst in laughter. When I am on campus, it's usually just lecture and library for me.

Six. I think I'll try and change that and try and have some lunch dates here and there.

Seven. Lets use the weekends to make it less difficult for ourselves during the week. My hardest days are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. But after Wednesday, I can stop holding my breath and get some new oxygen into my lungs and the rest of my body. Wednesdays are my toughest days because of labs, specifically organic chemistry lab, so much is required of you before you even begin lab. There are lab lectures to go to for making the pre-lab a little more understandable. There is the actual lab. Then there is the post-lab with a 2 page analysis due before you have your next lab. So if I could just work on at least my post-lab on the weekends, it would definitely make the daunting Wednesday arrive a little less daunting than it has been lately. Daunting Wednesdays because it's usually a time crunch due to procrastination to finish and understand my lab assignments.

Eight. Today.
Right now it is 5 in the morning.
I will eat some breakfast. I will hop in the shower. [sometimes I feel slightly dizzy if I shower first than eat and something about eating with a wet head is unpleasant to me.]
First, I will on my BME problem set.
Second, I will work on my post-lab.
Third, my pre-lab. Hopefully what I miss in class today is not too too bad.
Fourth, I will go to physics lab.
Then I will have my 2 hour break which will include my dinner time.
Fifth, I will have the chem lab.
Sixth, come back home, eat something. Wash face. And physics physics physics. To prepare for my physics quiz in discussion tomorrow. Got to ace them all now because last week was a definite no-no.

sunday

It is Sunday morning and I am a little sad.
I am a little sad that school is starting up again tomorrow.
But that's okay, I shall make today the most productive day of this weekend.

P.S. I predict there are two boys in the living room and one boy using my sink.

circle of life

so last week over half of my guppies died.

but here's some exciting news!

one of my guppies had babies today!

but from what i hear though [my guppies are at home], all but one were still births.

my babies had babies! i can't believe it! :D

09

i guess it's time to update.

it is the start of a new year.
it is the start of a new quarter.
it is the start of new classes.

so my classes.
i'm taking 19 units this quarter.
bio
biomedical engineering
organic chemistry
organic chemistry lab
physics
and physics lab

i've basically signed my weekends away.
i'm even contemplating further cutting down on san diego visits. oish.

but anyways the classes right now don't seem too bad right now.
i'm behind already but i'm not too worried as long as i stick to my planner with all the chapters from all the books i need to read and finish that week.

i've already finished chapter one of physics. i must say that i still need more practice on dimensional analysis and that i should just continue reading in order to have a more firm grasp on the subject. i have never taken physics before and i'm just worried about all the things i should already know for the class.
i shall rely mainly on my book because the teacher for that class is really hard to understand.

but other from that teacher i think i like the rest of them.
my bio professor reminds me of mr. torns. same style of attire. same kind of glasses. and same kind of hair!
my chem professor is nice in the sense that he doesn't rush through things.
my bme professor reminds me of the cop in Heroes, Parkman.
and i don't have too many comments yet on my TAs except they all seem pretty cool and chill. woo!

this blog is turning out to be pretty boring i think.

time to add some spice.
so on tuesday at my christian club meeting,
we had a new person added to our little group,
and he was pretty quiet the whole time
until we were done with our group discussion
and he suddenly asks me
"IS THAT AN ALLIANCE SHIRT!"
and BOOM! he became talkative and another group member joined in because apparently he plays wow too.
never would i have thought that i would be talking about world of warcraft in a christian club setting :P
